Bouncing Cats film screening at Floor Wars

This year, we’ll be screening the movie Bouncing Cats at Floor Wars.  Bouncing Cats is the inspiring story of one man’s attempt to create a better life for the children of Uganda using the unlikely tool of hip-hop with a focus on b-boy culture and breakdance. In 2006, Abraham “Abramz” Tekya, a Ugandan b-boy and A.I.D.S. oprhan created Breakdance Project Uganda (B.P.U.). The dream was to establish a free workshop that would empower, rehabilitate and heal the community by teaching youth about b-boy culture. We in Breakpoint organization have been working with BPU on several occassions, and what they have achieved in Uganda is simply amazing. To give all of you an impression of their work, we’ll be screening the film at 16:30 in the foyer of Vega.  Abramz and Mark from BPU will also fly in all the way from Uganda to present the movie and do a short Q&A afterwards. Check out the trailer at www.bouncingcats.com

Deine Lieblingsbreaker winners of Floor Wars Germany

The past weekend we went to Germany participating in a amazing battle at the Floor Wars qualifier held in Cologne. Many crews had signed up and so it was a long night ahead of us in a overpacked venue.

The audience was keeping up along the dancers and many promising crews have showed their strength, but nobody would have imagined that “Deine Lieblingsbreaker” – who after the first round continued with only two bboys as one of them got injured and couldn’t continue – would have gone all the way. Not only they’ve beaten strong competitors on their way but also last years winner and local heroes TNT crew in the finals!

Lot’s of respect and we are looking forward welcoming them between the great 8 to the finals in Copenhagen the 19th of march.
